Where do I even start?
Walking into a bait and tackle store for the first time can definitely bring up confusion. There are so many options and products to choose from. We’ve created a bare-bones checklist for inshore saltwater fishing gear. Saltwater fishing gear is made with corrosion-resistant and durable materials to withstand saltwater.
Basic Gear Checklist:
- Inshore Saltwater Fishing Rod and Spinning Reel
- Hooks, Sinkers, And/Or Pre-Rigged Setups (Rigs That Have Already Have Sinkers Or Weights)
- Fishing Line (Monofilament Is The Most Popular Type of Fishing Line)
- Needle Nose Pliers with Line Cutters
- Fillet Knife
- Scissors
- Tackle Bag/Tackle Box
- Landing net
- Safety Gear and Small First Aid Kit
- Waterproof Backpack (Tackle Storage If You’re Wading To Fish)
- Bait
- Bait Bucket For Live Bait (If You Aren’t On A Boat With A Baitwell Or Bait Tank)
- Fishing License (Physical Card Or Digital On Your Phone)
Thankfully on Key West fishing charters with Captain Rob you won’t have to worry about any of this. We’ve got you covered!
