It is spooky season! Celebrate with Robert the doll and tour the most haunted places in Key West.
Robert The Doll
“Robert did it.” This phrase is common for those who have experienced the effects of disrespecting Key West’s haunted doll. In 1904 a 4-year-old boy received Robert and named the doll after himself, Robert Eugene Otto. At night Gene’s parents heard their son having conversations and a different voice would reply. After the home went to new tenants, Robert remained in the home’s turret.
Tenants who moved into the home spoke about hearing giggles, sounds, seeing changes in the doll’s expression, and finding him in different places throughout the home. It is rumored that children in the street passing by the home saw Robert waving at them. Robert is now at Fort East Martello Museum. You can visit through regular visiting hours, or on Sloan’s Key West Ghost Fort Adventures (see below).
